The French bulldog is a very cute dog that has gained a lot of popularity recently. They are known for being a good companion to human beings. They love their sleep and comfort which makes it easy for people who have a busy schedule to manage them. This is one of the reasons why people often go for a Frenchie dog. However, if you are a French bulldog owner then you should be aware of the genetic disorders that might come along with your dogs. These dogs are very much sensitive which makes it important for the owners to be very careful.

Back pain

The first problem that can be spotted in a French bulldog is that of back pain. These dogs often have a disease which is known as intervertebral disc disease (IVDD). Whenever you see that your dog is not willing to walk, jump, go up and down the stairs, eat, or any other such problems then it should be understood by the owner that the dog is in serious pain. The dog might get paralyzed if proper treatment is not given to him at the right timing. However, in cases where the problem is not as severe, the Frenchie dog should be provided with enough rest.

Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD makes it difficult for the French bulldog to absorb the required nutrition.  Chronic diarrhea might be a common symptom of this kind of disease.  They might also vomit twice or more.  This makes it important for the owner to visit the doctor as soon as possible so that proper medication can be given to them. They need immediate medical attention in such cases or the condition might worsen. This is one of the genetic disorders that can be found in most of Frenchie dogs.

Eyesight problem

It has been seen that the French bulldog has a genetic problem of eyesight. It is important for every dog to have proper eyesight so that they are able to see things. However, it has been seen that the bulldogs often have such eyesight problems that might make them blind forever. Cataracts are something that is quite common among French bulldogs. If these cataracts are not treated properly, it might cause blindness in the dogs. Therefore it is important for the owners to provide treatment as soon as possible so that they are able to provide comfort to the dogs.
