The very productive Indian composer, singer, and actor GhantasalaSaiSrinivas, who is more popularly known by his screen name of S. Thaman, or simply Thaman, is just 36 years old today. But he is already an icon in the Telugu and Tamil language Bollywood cinema scene.
He started his film career when he was only 10 years old as a supporting musician for the Telugu film BhairavaDweepam in 1994.
Thaman came from a family of film people and musicians. His grandfather was veteran director GhantasalaBalaramayya. His father was a drummer, and his mother, aunt, and spouse are singers.
Thaman was forced to make his musical hobby into a full-time profession when at 13 years old, his father passed away.
Thaman worked for 14 years under the tutelage of famous composers like M.M. Keeravani, VandemataramSrinivas, Chakri, R.P. Patnaik, Devi Sri Prasad, and Mani Sharma.
Thaman considers Mani Sharma as his most influential mentor. Under Sharma, he composed the song YehMeraJahaan for the movie Kushi. This song gave rise to his popularity with the Telugu youth.

- RACE GURRAM: Roughly translated as Race Horse, was released in 2014 as a Telugu language film. It was directed by Surender Reddy and was produced by Lakshmi Narasimha Productions. In the movie, two brothers who are extremely different in character made enemies with a criminal personality who has political ambitions. Thaman composed the music of this movie. This marked Thaman’s first collaboration with Allu Arjun and his second tie-up with Surender Reddy. Lahari Music purchased the rights to the movie audio for 110,000 US dollars. The movie soundtrack was in the top ten albums on iTunes during that year. RACE GURAAM is the seventh highest-grossing Telugu film of all time, garnering 18 million US dollars in box office receipts. It also received positive critic reviews and earned Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Male Playback Singer at the Filmfare Awards.
- BAADSHAH:The story goes that Raj, a private detective who is not really well regarded, was struggling for a big break in his career. Hired to rescue a hostage, he becomes involved with political bigwigs. Directed by MustanBurmawalla and Abbas Burmawalla. Initially released in 2013, it earned at the box office 15 million US dollars by 2018. Thaman’s musical collaboration here is that he penned 6 songs in the soundtrack. The music received positive acclaim from both critics and fans alike. The BAADSHAH album has a presence on Spotify at present, and Telugu fans are always searching for the songs.
- VENKY MAMA: The storyline centers aroundVenky who stood as the parent of a boy who lost his parents. The plot warms up as it is revealed that during the reading of the fortune of Venky by an astrologer, it is predicted that Venky will die in the hands of the boy. The movie is directed by K. S. Ravindra. It is just a recent release, just this December 13, 2019, but before the pandemic struck, the film has already garnered box office receipts of 10 million US dollars.
